Going to Nami Island , also known as Namiseom Island or Naminara Republic , takes about roughly two hours' drive from Seoul . The island was formed after the construction of the Cheongpyeong Dam at the downstream of the Bukhangang River . This half-moon shaped island was named after General Nam-i (1441-1469) of the Lee Dynasty.
